As a full-time pitching coach, I have the privilege of working with around 100 hard working girls and young women at any given time from age 8 to 19. I am based in West Haven, Utah, but my clientele extends beyond Utah to include athletes that travel regularly from Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado.
Technology plays a crucial role in my coaching approach, with a daily reliance on tools such as 4D Motion, slow-motion video, radar, Diamond Kinetics smart softballs, OnForm, TrueCoach software, and more.
My approach to lessons sets me apart from traditional lessons. I only do one-on-one lessons, and every session is a personalized exploration of your pitcher's mechanics and individual needs, involving a thorough review of multiple videos on a large screen, breaking down their movements and corrections in fine detail. We engage in close-up drills, full-distance pitching, continuous speed tracking, 4D Motion Analysis, biomechanical testing, motor preference testing, and detailed analysis of ball movement and spin using Rapsodo and Diamond Kinetics Pitch Tracker. Throughout the process, I provide comprehensive education and explanation to ensure your pitcher grasps the rationale behind each movement. I never give corrections without justification. Any drills are to specifically address an adjustment the pitcher needs—I will never assign drills for the sake of having a drill, or because it is the latest facebook trend. I am always ready to provide clear explanations. If I am unable to immediately explain a movement, I will find the answer or adapt my approach.
In lessons, I actively collaborate with pitchers to implement corrections through low-energy movements and drills, progressing toward a full pitch. I believe pitching instruction is far more than full distance pitching with corrections, and far more than repetitive generic drills. I don’t do lessons from a bucket or a distance. I work closely with and around your pitcher, viewing, recording, and adjusting from all angles. My role is to educate and guide, empowering pitchers to implement corrections independently at home with the knowledge gained during our sessions. Pitchers leave each session equipped with a clear understanding of what to focus on and how to practice.
I'm fortunate to be part of a select group of top-tier pitching coaches from around the nation. We interact daily through Facebook Messenger, phone calls, texting, private websites, exclusive Facebook groups, weekly and “off the cuff” Zoom calls, and we travel to nationwide clinics and joint training sessions. Our collective expertise encompasses all aspects of pitching and related athletic disciplines.
Our focus is to understand and teach the most efficient and effective pitching mechanics, paying meticulous attention to the intricate details that impact health, speed, location, and spin. Through continuous research and development, we strive to innovate new techniques that lead pitchers to success, consistently pushing the boundaries of technology and knowledge. We are quite literally on the leading edge of Fastpitch pitching.
I am deeply committed to advancing my knowledge of softball and pitching mechanics, and any related disciplines, holding certifications as an intermediate and elite level pitching coach from Rick Pauly's renowned Pauly Girl Fastpitch program, and working with Rick to develop a Pro level certification. Alongside my peers, I have trained and certified in cutting-edge technologies and methodologies such as Motor Preferences, Square 1, Primitive Reflexes, and NASM Corrective Exercise. These modalities help me delve deeper into movements and problems and find alternate solutions where traditional methods don’t work.
